Professional Bio

Professor Frederking joined the Western Faculty in 2024 following appointments at the University of Portland (2002-2018) and Brescia University College (2018-2024).

Her administrative roles include Chair (University of Portland), Director of the Social Justice Program (University of Portland), Assistant Provost (University of Portland), Associate Provost (University of Portland), Academic Dean (Chief Academic Officer, Brescia University College), President (Brescia University College), and now Associate Vice-Provost (School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, Western University).

Professor Frederking’s research lies primarily within the realm of comparative politics, with specific interests in the interactions between political context and sustainability, agriculture, and entrepreneurship. She is also involved in research on the intersection of politics and literature, including an ongoing book project on Steinbeck and the construction and continuation of the American dream. Finally, she is building on the earlier concepts and theory in her book, Reconstructing Social Justice, through research on social entrepreneurship incentives across countries and the different political economic models employed to achieve collective outcomes.
