Employee Number and Western ID Card
Please go to Room 1120, Student Services Building to obtain your photo identification card. You will require your Western Employee Number (This will be provided to you by the Department Administrative Officer once it is issued by the Human Resources Department). This card is required for most university services (including keys, parking, library services, travel discounts, etc.).
Direct Deposit
Monthly pays are issued on the second last working day of the month.
To ensure your pay is received in a timely manner, please log on to the myHumanResources website to arrange for direct deposit of your monthly pay once you have been issued your Western user ID and password. Please follow these instructions once you have logged on to the system:
- select “Payroll and Compensation”
- select “Direct Deposit”
- enter your personal banking information
- select “Save”
Your earning statements can be viewed online.
Health & Safety
At a minimum you are required to complete the following training:
Employee Health and Safety Orientation:
It is mandatory for all new faculty and staff to attend the Employee Health and Safety Orientation. The purpose of this training session is to provide individuals with an understanding of:
- their basic rights and responsibilities as well as those of other workplace parties under the Occupational Health & Safety Act of Ontario
- designated substances
- services available from Occupational Health and Safety at Western
- proper response to a campus fire emergency
Please arrange to attend the first session offered following your first day of employment and send a copy of your certificate or confirmation of training to Kim Baxter in room 4154, Social Science Centre. A schedule of training sessions and online registration is available at Employee Health and Safety Orientation.
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS):
WHMIS training is mandatory for all university employees and re-certification is required every three years. You will be required to complete basic WHMIS training which is offered online via the Technology Services Web CT Server. Use your Western Staff User ID and password to login to the WebCT. If you do not see the WHMIS course you will need to be set up by sending your name, staff user ID and department affiliation to Frank Lee at slee785@uwo.ca. Please complete this training on your first day of employment and send a copy of your certificate or confirmation of training to Kim Baxter in room 4154, Social Science Centre.
Employing Students
The Work Study Program is available through the Department of Financial Aid, Office of the Registrar, Western. The Work Study Program offers an opportunity for students to work part-time in jobs that accommodate their studies.
